"We begin to realize that it will take something more powerful than we are to relieve our suffering. This is what we've been missing all along – a source of hope."

"Penalties against possession of a drug should not be more damaging to an individual than the use of the drug itself; and where they are, they should be changed. Nowhere is this more clear than in the laws against possession of marijuana in private for personal use... Therefore, I support legislation amending Federal law to eliminate all Federal criminal penalties for the possession of up to one ounce [28g] of marijuana."
- Jimmy Carter
"The illegality of cannabis is outrageous, an impediment to full utilization of a drug which helps produce the serenity and insight, sensitivity and fellowship so desperately needed in this increasingly mad and dangerous world."
- Carl Sagan
"Federal and state laws (should) be changed to no longer make it a crime to possess marijuana for private use."
- Richard M. Nixon
"In strict medical terms marijuana is far safer than many foods we commonly consume. For example, eating 10 raw potatoes can result in a toxic response. By comparison, it is physically impossible to eat enough marijuana to induce death. Marijuana in its natural form is one of the safest therapeutically active substances known to man. By any measure of rational analysis marijuana can be safely used within the supervised routine of medical care.

You can't outwit fate by standing on the sidelines placing little sidebets about the outcome of life. Either you wade in and risk everything you have to play the game or you don't play at all. And if you don't play you can't win.

Life is inherently risky. There is only one big risk you should avoid at all costs, and that is the risk of doing nothing.

A Message from Tony

Someone recently asked me, why get involved in such a controversial industry? I said because I have been personally aware of too many cancer patients, some of my closest friends, suffering terrible after-effects of Chemotherapy treatment. Without question, I witnessed firsthand that the use of medical marijuana improves their daily quality of life.

It would be very easy to stay on the sidelines until this controversial subject is resolved. As a parent to a teenage son, I am also well aware of the 'other' ramifications and concerns about marijuana. I respect your position to be against; I only ask you to consider this: in this country we have a Heroin epidemic among our best and brightest, our children. This is occurring all the while Marijuana remains illegal at the Federal Level.

It's time to stop kicking the can down the road and deal with these issues as adults in calm and measured voices. As a dear friend of mine in the clothing business always said, "I sell a lot more Grey suits than black and white ones."

In fact, it was Sir Henry Royce, the co-founder of Rolls Royce who said, "Strive for perfection in everything. Take the best that exists and make it better. If it doesn't exist, create it. Accept nothing nearly right or good enough."

That's what I want to do with Realeaf LLC. And I understand there is a lot of discussion going on around this topic. You can't pick up a news source today without reading about it. But then, there will always be discussion about topics that are meaningful… that can make a real difference. As there will always be critics, but critics don't count. As Teddy Roosevelt said, it isn't the man who points out how a strong man stumbles. "Credit belongs to the man who really was in the arena, his face marred by dust, sweat, and blood, who strives valiantly, who errs to come short and short again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming."

I'm not comparing myself to that great man or any other great man. But I am saying trying to do the right thing, with great enthusiasm is what life is about. This cause is a worthy one. And while I truly believe that failure is not an option, I also believe with Teddy that if a man fails while daring greatly, "his place shall never be with those cold and cruel souls who know neither victory nor defeat."

Join me in the discussion, won't you?
